Renovating Our Kitchen Without Breaking the Bank

Revamping a Victorian Kitchen on a Budget: A Before and After Transformation

Transforming a space on a budget can be a challenging but rewarding task. In this blog post, I wanted to share my experience of giving my kitchen a “glow up” on a tight budget of £100.

When my partner and I moved into our new house, we were greeted with a kitchen that needed a lot of love. With floral wallpaper, matching carpets, and red tiles, it was in desperate need of a makeover. Knowing that a full renovation wasn’t in our immediate plans, we decided to work with what we had and make some affordable updates to the space.

One of the biggest transformations came from painting the red tiles. I used Ronseal One Coat Tile Paint to cover them up, and while it took a few coats, the end result was worth it. The cabinets, which had a weird vinyl texture, were primed with Zinsser 1,2,3 Primer before being painted with regular black wall paint.

To update the worktops, I applied a marble effect vinyl wrap, which was quick and easy to do. I also added self-adhesive tiles to create a new backsplash, giving the space a fresh look.

Overall, these simple and affordable updates made a huge difference in transforming the kitchen. By repurposing accessories from other rooms and being resourceful with materials, I was able to create a space that feels modern and stylish without breaking the bank.

If you’re looking to update a room in your home but don’t have a big budget, don’t be afraid to get creative and think outside the box. With a little bit of time and effort, you can give any space a fresh new look without spending a fortune.
